Anantnag, May 08 (KNO): Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag and its affiliated hospitals attended to nearly one million patients, while around 75,000 received treatment in the past fiscal year. The GMC Anantnag and its associated hospitals have concluded a year marked by remarkable achievements, underscoring their steadfast dedication to delivering exceptional healthcare services to the community, Dr Owais H Dar, the spokesperson for the hospital said. As per the details obtained by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in the past fiscal year, the Outpatient Department (OPD) of GMC Anantnag and its affiliated hospitals attended to 9,71,387 patients, while 74,569 patients received treatment in the Inpatient Department (IPD). Notably, a total of 18,888 surgeries were performed, including 4,325 Caesarean sections, catering to diverse medical needs. Prof (Dr) Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal of GMC Anantnag, appreciated the diligent staff for their outstanding contributions in upholding the highest standards of healthcare. She particularly highlighted the commendable achievements at MMABM Hospital Janglatmandi, where 595,222 patients were served in the OPD and 47,155 in the IPD. The hospital conducted over 8,838 surgeries across various specialities and carried out 636,260 laboratory tests, 3,154 endoscopic procedures, and 2,958 echocardiograms. Additionally, 6,920 dialysis sessions were administered, showcasing the hospital's comprehensive care capabilities. Similarly, MCH Hospital Sherbagh, under the management of GMC Anantnag, attended to 3,56,974 OPD visitors and treated over 27,414 inpatients. The hospital conducted 5,026 surgeries, including 4,324 Caesarean sections, and conducted 2,35,695 laboratory tests, underlining its vital role in meeting the healthcare needs of the community. The Department of Radiology, serving both MMABM Hospital and MCH Hospital, conducted 45,497 ultrasounds, 89,874 X-rays, 12,635 CT scans, and 53,821 ECGs, providing crucial diagnostic services. Additionally, the Department of PSM at the Urban Health Centre Brakpora and Rural Health Centre Sagam offered comprehensive healthcare to 19,191 OPD patients, along with 9,010 laboratory tests and 2,041 dental procedures. Moreover, GMC Anantnag organised more than 25 specialist and superspecialist health camps across Anantnag and Kulgam districts, benefiting numerous patients as part of the Ayushman Bhava Campaign. Looking ahead, GMC Anantnag aims to bolster its healthcare infrastructure with the introduction of modular operating theatres, dedicated intensive care units (ICUs), and a new Cath Lab at MMABM Hospital. Plans are underway for the installation of digital radiography and MRI facilities. The institution is also expanding its service portfolio to include cancer surgeries, pacemaker implementations, Fibroscan services, and CT-guided biopsies. Currently, GMC Anantnag hosts over 118 Post Graduate DNB candidates across various clinical and non-clinical departments, with plans to introduce MD and MS post-graduate courses. Additionally, the first batch of MBBS and Paramedical students is set to graduate this year.
